RESIDENT EVIL: Ascension

Claire walks down the stairs of the BSAA G6 she "procured for diplomatic use". Once on solid ground, she takes a deep breath.

"Ah, the air in Prague feels nice."

She heads off the runway and to main terminal to meet her contact. She pulls up the file on her BSAA issued Droid global phone.

Looks friendly...

Claire knows all too well that looks can be deceiving. She thinks back to the horrors of that night in the now dead Raccoon City.

"Leon...Please be safe."

She enters the airport's main terminal and heads to customs.

Flipping through a Maxim Magazine, Godric takes the last drag from his cig, and flicks it to the floor. He stomps his foot on it and crushes it. He folds the magazine up and looks at his watch,
"Let's hope she made it in time...."
Godric says to himself, while leaning on the standard BSAA issued black SUV.

Leaving customs, Claire heads to the baggage claim. A bustling crowd of American teenagers on their European retreat flood the area. Claire lets out a heavy sigh.

This is gonna take a while...

Suddenly, a hand touches Claire's shoulder. She immediately flips around, ready to roundhouse kick her new foe. Instead, she is met with a tall bald man wearing sunglasses and a heavy black trench coat covering half of his face.

"Do I-"

Before she could finish, the giant man lifts up a large pink suitcase with one hand.

"My ...suitcase?"

He drops it in front of her, then begins to walk away.

"Hey... wait, how did you-"

The crowd of American teenagers run in between Claire and the helpful stranger. The mystery man disappears into the airport crowd. Claire's phone begins to buzz reminding her of her meeting with her contact.

"Damn..."

That man... Have I met him before?

She pulls out her suitcase lever and jogs out of the airport. She looks around to try and spot her contact by the loading zone.

Godric whistles with his fingers loudly, while walking to the back of the suv. He opens up the door to ready for claire to put her bag in.

Claire waves as she flags down her contact. She jogs over to Godric and the BSAA SUV.

"Hi there. Are you my contact?"

She pulls out her phone to show him her digital BSAA badge.

"yes mam."
He puts out his gloved hand.
"Godric Kraus."
He smirks as he awaits the womans handshake.

She smiles back, with a sharply confident look in her eye.

"Claire Redfield."

She grabs Godric's hand with a strong grip.

"Nice to finally meet you. Thank you for agreeing to meet on such short notice."

"No problem, When i heard it was Leon that was in trouble i had to see what was up.!"
They both enter the car, and Godric starts it and drives.
"So do you mind telling me the full report?"

Claire lets out a big sigh.

"It hard for me to believe myself..."

She looks down at her lap.

"You were Leon's contact during his mission in Prague, so you know why he was here. But the trouble is we aren't the only ones who knew what he was doing here. I'm sending you a copy of the dossier I found in the Spencer Romanian Estate."

She messes with her phone and sends the file to Godric.

"He told me he needed to investigate somthing. Told me it was important and to keep everyone from knowing...Last time i saw him, i drove him to a parked car. He got out of my car and went in this other car, into the passenger side. Meaning someone was driving, and it was a meeting...The car drove away and i never saw him again."
He continues driving.

"Something must have happened at that meeting. The data Spencer was collecting on Leon... it said that Leon found a lead on the B.O.W.s and intended to bring down the suspects that night."

Claire studies her phone diligently.

"The suspects names and addresses are all right here."

"Well lets go pay them a visit shall we?"
He says with a smirk as he shows that he's funny in a way.

"Let's do it."

Claire retorts with a smile.

"Alright, I'm pulling up the first suspect... Here it is, Oliver Novak. 47. English-Czech descent. It says before moving to Prague he worked ...oh my god..."

Claire's face turns to shock as she stares at her phone.

"stay with me....what is it claire?"
godric says as he nudges her shoulder.

Claire looks over at Godric with a concerned look.

"Novak... He was one of the lead researchers at the Arklay Research Facility...in Raccoon City... Somehow, he escaped and found refuge here."

Claire looks down.

"Umbrella's ghosts... What happened in that city... "

She gets angry, clenching her fist. Memories of that horrible night flood back like a crushing tsunami.

"He is only one living now who shoulders the blame."

"shit....ok where are we headed!?"

"I'll upload the address to my GPS so we can track them down..."

She tinkers with her phone for a few seconds.

"Ok, got it. Turn left here, then right at the light."

The skreeches of the tires are a loud pitch as he swiftly turns left and turns right, ending up at a large office building.
"what is this?"

"This can't right let me check the GPS."

As Claire looks down to mess with her phone, a very distressed looking man in a lab coat runs out of the building carrying a briefcase stuffed with documents sticking out at every corner.

"ummm claire...."
Godric points at the man running.

Claire looks at Godric, then at what he's pointing at.

"Goddammit, that's him!"

Claire jumps out of the SUV, and darts after him.

"Ill cut him off!" he yells before claires slams the door to the SUV.
He reverses back, swiftly turns the car around, puts it in drive and makes his way around the block with speed.

"Novak!"

Claire yells while running behind the estranged scientist. Novak turns and takes one look at Claire before turning pale and sprinting away, holding his briefcase to his chest. Documents fly in the air like birds as Claire gives chase.

"Stop! Novak, wait!"

Swerving through traffic, Godric looks left as he passes an intersection, he sees the chase on the other block.
"shit!"
He presses his foot harder and begins to drive on the other side of the street, honking his horn at other cars so they dont crash into him. He makes an immediate left turn.

Novak turns into a alley with Claire right behind him. She hails Godric down with the two-way radio capabilities of her phone.

"Godric he's coming to you! Get ready!"

Claire continues chasing Novak, as he runs out the alleyway and into the middle of the street.
